UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM - THE INVISibili(ty)/sation of ordinary spaces in perry barr
The Invisibili(ty)/sation Of Ordinary Spaces In Perry Barr, Birmingham: The Legacy Of The Commonwealth Games is the title of a research project written by Professor Attuyer and Professor Goode at The University of Birmingham. I was asked to create several illustrations that explore the themes presented in the project, which focused on the positive and negative effects The Commonwealth Games had on both the local community, and the city as a whole. This is an on-going commission and the piece pictured is a work-in-progress, but is the larger of the images that will be delivered.
The piece hopes to provoke and ask questions surrounding The Games and it’s long-lasting effects on Perry Barr and the wider area, and was featured in The University of Birmingham’s ‘Leading To Engage’ Exhibition in November 2024. It will be fully coloured, and accompanied by several smaller images to ensure all thoughts of the research project are displayed.
